We would like to investigate any available upgrades that would provide better "real time" video transfer when we long in via web. The maximum at this point (as installed) is in 5sec intervals. Is there an upgrade that would improve that transmit time? We are connecting via internet from several locations.
What you are experiencing is internet/network latency... This is common problem amongst our customers. You see, the transfer time is co-dependent on networks involved. The speed of the transfer is determined by the weakest link. Your video feed might be going across the nation and back before it returns to your receiving end. There are a few things you can try to do to improve latency:
1) Improve the network your unit is connected to.
2) Work with your ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to see what they have that can help reduce latency on both the sending and receiving end of the connection. Often having the same company for both connections helps. Sometimes changing companies is all that is needed.
3) Drop a high speed fiber connection to your locations. The closer you get to the internet backbone the better. Ideally, sitting directly on an internet OS/3 trunk line would be perfect. However, this is a pretty expensive endeavor and any improvement helps, of course...
4) Do away with the internet completely and directly connect through a high speed long range private network. There are many options for this these days...
I hope this helps...
