Field of view. Possible add on.

I'm interested in purchasing the Pack-Elite-8-Mini-HD and need to know what the Field of View is on the cameras. Trying to decide if I need to purchase an additional camera. From what I understand the DVR will support an additional 8 cameras. Right?

The field of view from the cameras that come standard in the package is around 65 degrees. If you upgrade to our 520tvl cameras you will get over 75 degrees because those come with a 1/3" CCD instead of the 1/4" on the 420tvl cameras. The DVR that comes standard in the 8 channel package is an 8 channel DVR, but you can choose the option to upgrade the DVR to the 16 channel DVR which will allow you to add up to 8 more cameras later. Or if you just want 16 cameras now, you can just buy the 16 channel package.

Will the 520TVL also allow for full use of the D1 recording capability of the 1st channel at 704x480. (isn't it 75% of the Horizontal resolution gives you the TVL capable to display at that resolution? 75% of 704 is 528TVL, close enough to 520TVL cameras you offer) My client is interested in upgrading one camera to take advantage of full D1 recording AND viewing and I think that anything over 520TVL (for instance 600TVL) will just look good but wont necessarily record at any better quality than 520TVL camera (at D1 Recording). Am I right in my assumption?

As far as the lines of resolution are involved (TVL), you are correct. 520tvl is around the maximum lines of resolution you will be able to see in a D1 (720x480) recording. However, there is much more to the quality of an image than the resolution. The CCD itself, the DSP and the lens all have a dramatic effect on video quality. For example, a Sony CCD has better image quality than a Sharp CCD. There are many settings that effect quality as well. Back light compensation, Wide Dynamic Range, Line lock, shutter speed, low light sensitivity, and many more features have a dramatic effect on quality.

Great! This client wants to maintain the highest level of recording quality in the image and has set a pretty large budget. Do you have maybe the top three choices you would recommend for him from your selection of cameras? The unit will be watching a register, moderate lighting. Also sorry in advance for hijacking this thread for this question, wasn't expecting such a great response so quickly.  Was instead going to msg a sales rep. Let me know if that is the best way to go about this.

This is fine, you can also use the submit a request link at the top which would submit a direct request. I have the perfect camera if he can wait one week. Sony just came out with their newest DSP and we will be one of the first to have it. It is called Sony Effio DSP. So our newest cameras (Elite Series) will feature the newest Sony Super HAD II CCD combined with the newest Sony Effio DSP. The cameras have a built in OSD (on screen display) that allow you to configure the camera from an attached joystick that is included in the cable. You will find the details here: http://www.securitycameraking.com/650tvl-ultra-high-resolution-day-... This camera is due to arrive early next week. We already have a long back order list. The price point is outstanding.
